Western and Hong Kong values differences?
We saw the case study of a group sex organization in Hong Kong has caused a hot debate. Therefore, we want to further explore how cultural differences impacted people's perspectives on new forms of sexuality.
Hong Kong community's reaction
Even though we have gradually become more open toward sexuality, a group of people still holds a negative attitude. Here are some comments we saw in the YouTube interview video of HKSP, which challenged the intentions behind the video.

"It is impossible to destigmatize, especially it (group sex) is illegal in many places, but only HK has no regulations. Even with freedom of choices, it doesn't represent the public accept group sex, involving issues of moral, ethnics, values, cultures or even religion."

We can see that even though HK society is gradually opening now, negative attitudes are still portrayed in social media, especially the debates on moral issue behind that.

After looking into the comment sections in a similar video on YouTube, where the influencer introduced her experience of joining those sex clubs for group sex, we've realized that Western seems to hold a more positive and receptive on such "taboos".

It is obvious that the comments by Western people on group sex parties are way more supportive and inclusive, especially since most of them show their interest and will in the activities, it acts as strong evidence of how two groups of people with alternative cultural backgrounds reacted in different ways.

Cultural Differences
Even though Hong Kong has been greatly influenced by Western open ideologies after globalization, traditional Chinese values are deep-rooted in people's mindsets.
Traditional Confucianism forbids the public discussion of "sex", making the topic taboo in Chinese society. Sex is considered an "intimate" action in a conservative mindset, where owning more than one sex partner is unacceptable in HK. Monogamous sex is known as the most popular one.

Regulation Differences
Actions of group sex are mostly non-prohibited in Western countries.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong's only legal way of sex work is the 161 一樓一鳳(one prostitute and one customer), such organizations charge fees from group sex participants might touch the marginal line of law regulations. It could be considered another way of prostitution, instead of the freedom of sexuality, which violates the law.
